The COMP Cams ID spring locator is a hardened-steel inner-diameter seat that protects the head and shim while locating and holding valve springs under high spring pressures and high RPM. It replaces older cup-style retainers by using an inboard locating shoulder. The 4868 size is specified with a 1.350" OD and a 0.515" ID for precise spring seating in race-oriented valvetrains.
