This JE Pistons chrome-silicon wire lock is a wrist pin retainer sized for a 0.905 in. pin diameter with a 0.073 in. lock thickness. Wire locks spread side loads over more of the piston pin boss than spiro locks and are considered a stronger pin-retention method; hook wire and tru-arc styles offer rotation resistance or easier reuse. These retainers are used where chamfered wrist pins are specified.
