The gasket combines embossed stainless steel layers with Viton-coated outer faces to seal modern high-output engines without sealants. The uncoated center shim supports thickness customization; MLS construction evens clamp load distribution, tolerates shearing at dissimilar-material interfaces, reduces clamp load requirements and helps limit bore distortion.
