For 383 builds it typically needs a 4000+ stall converter and a 750–830 CFM carb with 4.30–4.88 gearing; 440 installations usually call for a 3500+ stall converter, 800–850 CFM carb, headers and 4.10–4.56 gearing. A distributor gear upgrade is recommended for installation.
