The COMP Cams CS 296B-R4 camshaft, with a .900" base circle, is specified for late-model race cars in the 388–406 ci range and is best suited to short-track applications. Its grind favors midrange torque useful on tight ovals. Be aware that 1955–1957 small-block Chevrolets with the rear journal oiling groove need a different camshaft version and these part-numbered cams will not fit.
