The COMP Cams CS 288Cr-6 camshaft is a race-oriented cam with a .900" base circle built for longer-track sprint car use. It delivers the valve event profile suited to that application and is optimized for a melanized or nitrided distributor gear; it is not compatible with conventional cast or untreated steel gears. Note: 1955–1957 small-block Chevrolets with a rear journal oiling groove require a different cam.
